NOTICES

Training Thursday 2 February 2012 Training will be held on Sunday 18 March 2012 0930 hrs at the Brogo Station and will involve training relevant for the Bushfire Fighter Qualification

Bushfire Danger Period for the Bega Valley has ended and is not expected to recommence until 1 September 2012.  While permits are not required you are reminded that before lighting any fires that you are required to advise your neighbours and Bega Fire Control of your intention to light a fire at least 24 hours in advance. You should also  be aware that undertaking hazard reduction burn will require an environmental approval if native bush land is involved.  Details on Hazard Reduction Certificates can be obtained here. If you require assistance with hazard reduction burn or pile burns please contact the Brogo Captain Mike Jay on 0450 223 084 or  the Brogo Community Engagement  Officer David Philp on 0407 375 035

Every home must have a Bush Fire Survival Plan encompassing the decision to either "Leave Early" or to "Stay and Defend" to ensure that you are prepared and know what to do in the event of a bush fire. This publication will assist you in compiling a Survival Plan for your House and Property.

Bega Valley Bush Fire Risk Management Plan

A copy of the risk management plan can be asccessed by clicking here.  The plan currently rates the residential areas of Brogo as having a very high fire danger risk.  So while serious bush fires are not frequent they are so potentially dangerous and stressful that it is a wise move to have a well thought thru survival plan
